Welcome to the Hunaniaith website

Hunaniaith is Gwynedd’s language initiative.

The initiative’s primary purpose is to increase opportunities for people to use the Welsh language in all aspects of their lives and in all communities in Gwynedd.

In order to do so, we develop schemes, jointly with community organisations and partners, which will:

• give people opportunities to use the Welsh language naturally in new and varied contexts

• give opportunities to those who are less willing to speak the language or who are new speakers to practise and gain confidence
• offer support to voluntary groups and community representatives
• raise awareness and understanding of the role everyone has to play in supporting the language, and to emphasise pride in the Welsh language as a living language.
